MAY: 5 REASONS TO LOVE IT
If you think about the month of May many of you will think the Sun is warming, the birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming, the garden is growing. Not everyone knows, however, that May is above all the birthday month of the authors of the blog Forever 33: La Liguori (May 8, Taurus sign, from the North of Italy) and de La D’Antò (May 10, Taurus sign, from the South of Italy, traveling to UK ).
If the premise were not enough to love the month of May, there are at least 5 other good reasons that make the fifth month of the year our favourite month.
1) May is the month of roses. In the world there are about 150 species of roses classified by variety and colour and the visual and olfactory spectacle they create in gardens or homes is wonderful. For centuries they have been the symbol of love, devotion, admiration, beauty and perfection. The meaning of the roses also varies depending on the number of roses and the pairing of colours. Tradition has it that an even number of roses can be given for the wedding (12 red roses) and for the engagement (6 red roses). It is also possible to give 50 red roses, or multiples of 50, to impress in an amazing way. The number 15 is linked to the theme of forgiveness, so be careful not to give 15 roses for the anniversary or Valentine’s Day. Also widespread is the tradition of giving 33 red roses to communicate a very deep love, the highest point of feeling. Red and white roses together mean unity. Red and yellow roses together mean solidarity.
2) May is the month of strawberries and cherries. Used for light snacks, in fruit salads and to garnish desserts or birthday cakes, they are a refreshing and revitalizing snack, excellent in the first days of spring. Cherries have diuretic, detoxifying and laxative properties thanks to the high content of fiber and mineral salts such as potassium, phosphorus, calcium, iron, sodium and magnesium. In addition, the presence of flavonoids, in combination with the presence of vitamins A and C, promotes the production of collagen, excellent for skin elasticity, and helps in the fight against free radicals, slowing down the aging of cells. Strawberries contain vitamin C, which helps the immune system, mineral salts and, in smaller quantities, folic acid. Furthermore, the presence of antioxidants helps fight free radicals. They are very rich in fiber and water and help keep our body hydrated without weighing down, as they contain very few calories.
3) May is the month of life. The name Maggio derives from the corresponding month of the ancient Roman calendar Maius, so called as it is dedicated to the Latin divinity Maia, goddess of abundance and fertility, who represents the great mother earth. Many Western cultures considered the month of May to be a month in which to celebrate birth, life and motherhood. In Christian culture, May is the month dedicated to the Madonna with particular use of the devotion of the Holy Rosary.
